Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)

A blue and white bird from the family of corvids breeding in the area around Montreal. The species feeds mostly on nuts and seeds and occasionally small vertebrates. The population in the area migrates South in winter.

How to Identify

This species can be easily identified due to its blue color on the back and wings, white breast, the black pattern on the head and the form and size of the bill.

Where and When to Spot

I never see them in parks in the city but frequently in the parks more remote on the island of Montreal.
