Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Rarely seen around Montreal but native to the region. A large bird with wingspan up to 2m feeding mostly on fishes which it catches with its talon flying over the water. Adults are easily recognizable due the white feathered head.

How to Identify

Adults can be easily identified by the white feathered head. For juvenile, the yellow bill with the black tip is a distinctive characteristics.

Where and When to Spot

The only observations in wild life I made of this species have been in St. John's, Newfoundland.
