Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus)

Black-capped Chickadee is a small songbird which can be observed around Montreal all seasons. They are used to urban live but prefer to stay in parks.

How to Identify

There have a black cap from top till the height of the eyes, a black throat. The rest of the head is white. Wings are light grey and body yellowish. They are very fast and agile flyers. To take photos in flight make sure that set up allows shutter speed of at least 1/3200s.

Where and When to Spot

Black-capped Chickadee can be observed all year long in parks in and around the city. Although used to humans, they even pick food from your palms, this chickadee species remains within the vegetation of parks.
