Warbling Vireo (Vireo gilvus)
A small bird with a preference for mixed forests feeding on insects and berries hopping along branches. It is a migratory bird, spending winter in central America.
How to Identify
Very similar in appearance to the Philadelphia Vireo. Distinctive characteristic is the white breast and bluish legs.
Where and When to Spot
Difficult to spot because of the bird’s preference to stay within the dense leaves of trees. I may spot this species while tentatively following small birds hopping around within the tree branches.
