Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)

A common plant, flowering spring, summer and autumn, growing in meadows in parks around Montreal. Characteristic for this plant are the toothed leaves and the form of the fruit after flowering. Native to Europe and Asia, the species has been introduced to North America.

How to Identify

Yellow flower with many petals. The toothed leaves leaving from the root around one to ten unbranched stems.

Where and When to Spot

Flowers spring, summer and autumn on meadows in all parks on Montreal Island.
