Single. The pond where I saw all these Wood Frogs has been still partially frozen.

Wood Frog (Lithobates sylvaticus)

A small, brown frog with dark eye mask. To a certain extent freeze-tolerant and can breed in vernal pools. Usually the first of the local frog species to appear in spring.

How To Identify

The dark eye mask is a distinctive characteristic of this species.

Where and When to Spot

My only observation of this species has been in Park Pointe aux Prairies early spring in a pool which still was partially frozen.
