Gadwall Anas strepera
A common, widespread dabbling duck. This species breeds in Central Canada and along Saint Lawrence river and migrates South in winter. It eats mostly plant food but feeds their offspring with insects and mollusks.

How to Identify
Female looks very similar to Mallard. A distinguishable characteristic is the white belly and the dark orange-edged bill.
Where When to Spot
Supposed to be a widespread species, I only saw a single individual once in Rapids Park Lachine.
